“In so many situations light interacts with the exterior. Controlled light mingles with the uncontrollable effects of weather and the passage of the sun. In the Garden, an architectural pattern of small lighting objects were laid about to form a path for visitors to tour the outside of the site under the protection of large sails which shaped the volume of light in the courtyard, both referencing and reinforcing the effects of direct light and shadow.”
